Utah Self Defense Instruction

Practical training in self protection.

You may be surprised to know how many violent assaults occur in a place as seemingly peaceful and safe as Utah Valley. I personally know of 3 recent attacks to family members and acquaintances, none of which made the evening news to my knowledge.

The first of these attacks involved baseball bats. The second involved 3 attackers—one armed with a knife. The third incident involved a firearm.

The first two victims ended up in the emergency room. All three were fortunate to escape with their lives.

And the rate of violent attack is only going to go up with the gangs moving into the area.

And don't think it can't happen to you. Two of the above mentioned attacks occured at the victim's homes on Center Street and 4th South, both in Orem. The third happened at the Provo Smith's market.

What can you do to prevent these types of attacks to yourself and your family?

Number 1: use good judgment. Don't go around thinking it won't happen to you because you're a good person or because you're in Utah.  BE AWARE.

Number : prepare yourself. There are excellent books and other training materials available on the subject.

The best preparation is hands on training in self protection from an expert. We highly recommend Tug Gettling's 1-day intensive workshop. This type of training is surprisingly affordable, and is suitable for adults and youth ages 12 and older. You don't have to be a martial artist to attend.

If you are a martial artists, the knowledge and skills taught will provide the perfect compliment to your current training.
